SPECTRAL ANALYSIS ON NONCOMPACT MANIFOLDSConference in Honor of Werner MüllerTime: Thursday, June 24 - Saturday June 26, 2010 Location: tbc Organizers: Clara Aldana (Universidad de los Andes), Daniel Grieser (Oldenburg), Eugenie Hunsicker (Loughborough), Matthias Lesch (Bonn), Alexander Strohmaier (Loughborough) Conference DescriptionAnalysis on manifolds and in particular spectral analysis of geometric operators on manifolds has been an extremely fruitful area of mathematics with many wide ranging applications in physics. The conference will focus on spectral analysis on non-compact manifolds, which is an active and vibrant area of research. Talks will be organized around three main themes: L2 Index theory and eta invariants, Trace formulas and determinants, Spectral analysis of geometric operators on noncompact manifolds The conference is timed to honor Werner Müller on the occasion of his 60th birthday. However, we kindly ask all participants to register. If you would like to attend the conference and need an official invitation, please send a short statement concerning your own work and your interest in the conference to aldana@math.uni-bonn.de. We have limited funding and there will not be much available for participants who have not already been invited. If you would like nevertheless to be considered for any funds that may be available, indicate this in the email with your statement. We will inform you about funding decisions by 07.4.2010. TransportationAll Hotels are within walking distance from the conference site and Bonn central train station. You can reach Bonn by train from Köln/Bonn airport (20 minutes), Düsseldorf airport (60 minutes), and Frankfurt airport (90 minutes). Köln-Bonn Airport: The Airport Express Bus "SB60" shuttles to Bonn city on a regular 30 minute schedule. Disembark at the Bonn Central Train Station. A one-way ticket costs 6,30 Euros. If you plan to return to the airport with the Express, you can buy a round-trip ticket for reimbursement. The bus stop is at the side entrance of Terminal 2.Please see the website for further details: Timetables of public transport Frankfurt Airport: The airport has a railway station which can be reached in a few minutes by foot. There is a fast train to Siegburg (travel time 45 minutes) every hour, from where you can reach Bonn by taxi or tram. It is recommended to buy a train ticket at the counter before you ride. Düsseldorf Airport: The airport has a railway station which can be reached in a few minutes by the sky-train.The train leaves every hour to Bonn. It is mandatory to buy a (round-trip) train ticket at the counter before you ride. Please note that your final destination is airport Cologne/Bonn CGN or train stations Bonn Hauptbahnhof or Siegburg. Many airlines include this portion of your travel in their international fares. |
