Workshop and School on

Partial differential equations and analysis on singular spaces

Dates: February 11-15, 2008

Organizers:

  • D. Grieser (Universität Oldenburg),
  • M. Lesch (Universität Bonn),
  • C.-I. Martin (Universität Potsdam),
  • B.-W. Schulze (Universität Potsdam),
  • I. Witt (Universität Göttingen)

Featured Topics:

Pseudodifferential calculi, spectral invariants, index theory and L2 cohomology on singular and non-compact spaces; scattering of waves by singularities.

Minicourses:

  • Eugenie Hunsicker: Introduction to the b-calculus of pseudodifferential operators
  • Patrick McDonald: Relative determinants of elliptic operators on conic spaces
  • B.-W. Schulze: Aspects of operator algebras with symbolic structure on singular spaces
  • Ingo Witt: The Cauchy problem for hyperbolic differential operators on edge manifolds

Participation:

The minicourses are directed at graduate students and postdocs but are open to anyone interested; familiarity with the classical pseudo-differential calculus will be presupposed. In addition, there will be talks on current research work. Limited funding is available from the Hausdorff Center for Mathematics. For further information please contact one of the organizers.
